Sixta Aquima de Valencia
Sixta travelled from the Highlands to the Arequipa area and subsequently, Alto Cayma after her husband died, leaving her with little option of supporting herself in the harsh Andean environment. It is a common story in Alto Cayma, women with many children trying to survive without their spouses - their partners either dying young, falling into alcoholism or leaving.

Brendan, it is always a pleasure for me to catch up on your blog and see the latest photos you have posted. The pictures if Sixta ans Samuel are amazing and you might hate doing landscapes but they are truly beautiful. You always seem to capture the light perfectly. Your photos always make me want to be there at that moment. Hope to see you in Lima later this month.
